I have been recently obsessing over Instagram and have been following so many inspirational gym peeps it has  been great!!! Nothing gets me in the mood to life more than watching  some great trainers and lifters share their workouts!

In other news, I am getting into week 6 of my 6 week healthy living challenge!!

Results so far:


Way WAY more friggen red Xs than I want to see. Healthy eating + Social life = impossibly hard to balance.  I really haven’t done a bangup job on that one, but it is so hard to be strict on myself when chilling with friends!! 😭

Plus I have like the worst self control when it comes to sweets. 🍫 🍩🥞 And, ofc, pizza. 🍕🍕🍕mmmmm pizza….🤤

I guess the biggest surprise is how easy it has been to get to the gym 4x a week. 

Like, actually super easy!!

I basically doubled my gym comittment, and have been rockin’ it since week one! I find the more I get to the gm the more I want to get to the gym! Ironically where I fail with eating, I succeed with gym…. a lot of my messages with friends are as follows:


And I manage to get to the gym even if it is 11:00pm on a Saturday after a movie followed by beers with friends at a pub (*true story from last night!). 

So I am determined to win this last week of my challenge!! And already  planning for the next 6 weeks! (It will probably include a lot of eating focus. Which is going to suck. But so help me my tummy is still pudgy and time is ticking!  Bikinis and beaches are just around the corner!! 😱)

How to Unintentionally Pissoff a “Crossfitter”

I have found myself, since starting my gym journey, in many conversations with fellow gym rats. We discuss our deadlift PRs and 1 max reps, how much we box squat, celebrate gains, and the like. To outsiders, we probably sound like a secret club but really, it’s not. We do different workout and sets at different gyms, but I find the core lifts are the same. 

And then I met someone who does crossfit at a party. Or, as they call themselves, a “crossfitter”.

I had never heard of a deadlift PR including a time before? But it was still an amicable conversation. Some similar lifts. A debate about what style of matcha is the best pre/post (I still stand my by “straight up” opinion. Adding sugar and milk to froth it into a latte is just extra crap added to goodness imo…but anyways) Enough in common to share a conversation, although my rage about people to curl at the squat racks was met with a blank stare (come on, people! Just…don’t). 

And then whoooop there it is…

Crossfitter – So, you should totally come try it with me! No really! It is soo amazing. Such a better workout. (Etc)

I turned the offer down polietly. I’m really happy with my gym and lifts right now and am working on my goals. You know, something like that. But Crossfitter continued to pressure me into joining him, a complete stranger to me outside of said conversation, at his gym, not even located IN MY CITY but rather an hour or so drive out of Toronto, for a crossfit workout. Yeah, no thanks crazy cultist!! So, I was left with my last resort….

Me – Yeah, see look. I am really just not into competitive weight racing.

Crossfitter *with look of appalled rage* – there is more to the sport than that. It is such a great team bla blablabla (I mean, I had basically stopped listening at this point and thankfully the conversation moved on to other things…)

I mean no offence, but I don’t really even consider it a sport? And like. Cred to the peeps who do it. Differences of opinion (and personal fear and dislike of injuries) aside, do what you do. Mad cred to lifting heavier shit than me, probably faster than me. And yeah, some of your WODs sound scary. But don’t try to make me join your cult gym.

This here is one girl that will NOT be drinking the Kool-Aid. 👐

4th Workout This Week!?!


So legit I actually made it to the gym 4x this week, which has not happened in probably like forever. 

I am so fking pumped!

I dusted off a bunch of old sets I haven’t done in who knows how long (like, a year almost? Idk. Eons.) so everything felt a little rusty, but all in all not a bad workout. 

Could I have pushed harder? Probably. 

Will I push myself harder next week? Definitely. 

But the biggest win tonight was just in the fact that I went. 

One week down! Six to go!

4th Workout This Week!?!

Matcha Mornings

Waaaayy back in September, matcha scored no. 1 in my Top 5 Non-Fitness Related Gym Tips. For reasons obvious. It is great. It also helps me wake my sleepy bum up at 6am to try and hit the gym. 😴


Deadlifts went well, but I lost my plus set and only did 5 pulls. My heart was so set on 6. 

I made up for it by owning everything else though. Trainer has been switching things up and admitted he has been increasingly harder on me lately, and that is a-okay with me! 👌

🌴 Beach season is 2 months away!! Hopefully. 🤞 (I mean, it is Canada 🇨🇦 so you never really know…) But anyways, I have a LOT of work to get done. Months of slacking and crap eating has kicked me embarassingly way up in weight (Oh! I finally replaced the batteries in my scale). So! Enter Personally Fit’s newest challenge:

Healthy Living ❤ 6 Week Challenge

 I have ditched digital for this one and am mad scribbling in an oldschool notebook 📓 and taking Sharpies to my kitchen calendar. (Please ignore that I couldnt spell calendar without spellcheck…🤗)


So, that gives me 6 weeks to make gym and healthy eating my life…again. Lol. Hugely ambitious end goal? Getting back to the 165lb area. 

Progress so far:


Awwwyisss. Minus the embarassment that I am back up in the 175-180lbs range. Again. 😒 “FK THAT! ” I say. Let’s do this! 💪😤😤

To keep everything on point, I do have a recap page already set up, and am using my notebook to preplan my Personally Fit workouts and track as I go:


So, I mean, the hard part of organizing myself is already done, yeah? Lolol.  All I have to do now is really own it these next 6 weeks. I told myself that fitness is going to be 100% of my daily focus from now on, or at least until gym and healthy eating becomes second nature. So that means I have dusted off this blog and intend to get back at her full intensity.  

Now I just need my muscles to stop being soo bloody sore so I can get to the gym again tomorrow morning….kthnx

Why is my short workout still an hour and a half?

But honestly though…


So, I asked my trainer to put together a mini workout for me. Something fast that I can do that gets me in the habbit of going to the gym more often, but isn’t as daunting as my usual workouts which require a 3hr commitment. (By the time I get there, warm up, workout, get home, shower). 

Trainer said he would do it if I promised to add in one more lifting day per week, bringing me at a whopping gym 4x a week. (Instead of my epically lazy gym 2x a week that I have been doing since forever…)I said I was totally game. Now that I am not working daily, I should have way more free time for this….right? 🤗

So anyways, today was day 1 of mini workout! 💪

I figured since this is a bonus more than anything, I allowed myself to drive to the gym (which saves me the 20min walk to and from) and bounced into the gym excited at not being there long. 

Except. 

Well it still took a good hour and a half. And I haven’t even showered yet! I mean, it FELT short, and aside from my arms which are about to fall off,  I totally feel like. Energized. And like I could go workout another hour or so. So that at least hit my idealized goal of the workout. 

But. I am still confused by this mysterious half-hour workout concept🦄. I feel like that is not realy a thing. I mean, a warmup still takes like 15min so that would be like. Half the workout? I am so confused. 

But!

I got in. I got out. Now I get to rest until Thursday. 

And likely slather my arms in Myoflex. (Legit. They are still shakey…)
Wait. Have you mastered the half-hour workout? If so, what is your secret!!???

I successfully finished 10 days sugar free! And I say finished because I divulged in carrot cake and a rye & coke after, and my lovely Sunday Morning Blueberry Waffles today, ofc. (OMG I MISSSED YOU SUNDAY WAFFLES!!!)

Healthy choices: umm… not exactly.

Not my best week. As in, 6 days of red X in a row on my countdown. YIKES. This is bad, very very bad. And I didn’t make it to the gym yesterday out of sheer laziness. D: Trainer is getting mad with me. I feel like I went from an A student to like a C-. *SIGH*

Hello everybody! It is your much delinquent Bloggerista here with a super mega update post of shame. Things have been hectic for me with Argentina trip planning and three baby showers to prepare for (man oh man, everyone seems to be having babies these days…so much to sew! I really should have gone with store bought stuff instead of handmade…whain! >-<; but I just can’t help it! I loves them all so much that I just have to make little baby things just for them!), plus, OMG I am still coughing up a lung which is making me all grumpy and sick and tired. So basically, I would come up with a fun blog title in my head each day, and then promptly fall asleep on the couch or pull out my sewing machine and totally forget to actually, you know, wright the post. ^^; Whoopsies! Personally Fit’s Super Mega Blog Update Post of Shame

Personally Fit is Going to Argentina! 🇦🇷

I will be going on a six day Tea Expedition in Argentina this March! 

Six days of ploughing tea and picking tea and producing tea and pondering tea and all other non P words that have to do with tea!!! Oh, and some other things too like Iguazu falls and a lodge resot for a couple nights… but TEA! 😍

It is basically heaven. 6 days of warm weather and tea gardens and amazingness. I think there will even be some palm trees! (Being Canadian, seeing a real life wild palm tree has been on my bucket list for a while now.) 

I am so totally excited. 

Oh Also. For all you not crazy readers, I suppose I should explain that I have a mad love crush on tea. I am a self proclaimed tea nerd, an *almost* certified tea sommelier (yes, tea sommeliers are a thing, and yes, I am part way into my final course! So close!), and I work in a tea shop. Basically, tea is my life. For example, I am going to a two day tea festival in a few weekends to sit through seminars on the industry and peruse tea vendors. (I went last year too. And the year before that. And the year before that…)


Aaaaaaanways. 

I am excited.

I also realized this whole being 175lbs and my pants being too tight again thing has got to go by then. I mean. There might even be swimming involed! And you know what that means? That means bikini. Eeeeeep!

So! I has a plan! Again! ☝️

(Well, actually my trainer has a plan and on top of his plan I am just using his idea that he stole from a client he had once but mlehhh) 


I have printed off a 50 day count down to my trip and posted it on the fridge. If I eat bad that day… BAM! Cross it off red. But if I eat good that day… BAM! Cross it off green. 

(Did anyone catch that Fred Claus reference? No?)

So ofc the goal is to clean up my eating and be really diligent for the next 50 days. I certainly don’t want the red Xs to pile up! 😅

Trainer had this devilish smirk when I told him about my goal, and he said he is preparing someing extra special for me to whip my butt back into shape by March. Which probably means it is going to hurt…

So the steaks are high, the deadline set, and the determination kicking in!

BRING IT!! 😤😤
